I am sure some of you have probably been wondering about how one graduates from Magician's Academy. Well Magician's Academy works off a credit system. It is not that hard of a system to understand nor is it in anyway overly complex. This is not high school where you have to have this many of some class and this many of another. Here is the basics of how it works:
You are automatically granted the rank of Spellcaster Upon receiving ten credits at Magician's Academy. You can choose to stop here and request your certificate of passing. This of course is the basic rank that can be received and does not require any additional work. However.
If you chose from the beginning that you wished to specialize in a particular kind of magic, then you will gain a different title.
After working and progressing in your chosen field you can receive the rank of Spellcasting Master upon meeting the following requirements:
1) Gain 14 credits, 7 of which must be in the field you wish to master in.
2) Pass the mastery level exam for your field.
3) Have two teachers OR one Magician willing to sign off on your abilities.
Once a student reaches all these requirements they are automatically a graduate of Magicians Academy. However of course those who before they graduate gain more then their required field for graduation (those trying for Spellcaster gaining more then ten credits, and those trying for Spellcasting Master gaining more then 14 credits) will be given a certificate of distinction to go along with their graduation certificate.
(This applies only to Spellcasters who intend to specialize in a particular field of magic. Those who wish to be generalists are not allowed to take mastery level exams or classes.)
As a special new note. Once you begin learning in the prerequisite stage, you may learn the basics of any class. However after you pass these, you may only be advanced in one field. So for example you can learn all the basic paths but after you pass these you must choose, so you choose Romadra Magjir Omni casting. This means this is the only class you may take. After this you can take the mastery level class for your chosen field. If some of you are wondering how the math works out, if you had taken all the basics of the other classes you would have 7, plus 2 from the advanced, plus 4 from the mastery that brings your total 13 credits.
As a final new note, the masters exams for any class counts as receiving a single credit. So the question then becomes how does one get a seal of distinction. Simple. After you have taken your mastery level class, you get the opportunity to take a single class before you must take the masters exam. The only group this does not apply for is those who advance in the Romadra Magjir group, because they must take their mastery exam before they can enter their mastery level class.
As a final note if you either took less then all the basic classes or you failed one of the classes, you can take them at anytime during your term here. This means that for example if you decided to get your specialization out of the way early then you may go back later to take the rest of the basic classes or one basic class and one advanced class of the same kind.
